In epidemiology, a case fatality rate (CFR)-or case fatality risk, case fatality ratio or just fatality rate-is the proportion of deaths within a designated population of "cases" (people with a medical condition) over the course of the disease. A CFR is conventionally expressed as a percentage and represents a measure of risk. CFRs are most often used for diseases with discrete, limited time courses, such as outbreaks of acute infections.
A Fatality is a gameplay feature in the Mortal Kombat series of fighting video games. It is a finishing move in which the victor of the final round in a match inflicts a brutal and gruesome execution onto their defeated opponent. Fatalities are performed after the announcer says "Finish Him/Her" by players entering, within a short time frame, specific button and joystick combinations while positioned a specific distance from the opponent.
The Kreate-A-Fatality system is a finisher which debuted in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Also known as the y system, it allows players to create their own Fatalities using a series of special moves and ending them in a brutal finishing move. It replaced the classic Fatality system, whereby a series of button presses would activate a pre-programmed animation sequence.
