Erin McKeown (pronounced /mɪkˈjoʊn/ mik-YONE) is an American t and folk-rock singer-songwriter. McKeown's music is difficult to categorize. It touches on pop, swing, rock, folk, and electronic music, as well as many other genres. She grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and now lives in Massachusetts. McKeown began her career in the folk scene.
Musician, writer, and producer Erin McKeown announces MANIFESTRA, her 7th studio album and second on her own label TVP Records. Long held separate, McKeown's personal and political passions merge in the instrumentation that defines the album. Saxophones double guitars. Vintage synths merge with strings as keyboards mirror vocal lines. Loops and live drums unite to push songs forward. This focus on unison drives such deeply resonant tunes as the lushly orchestrated "Proof," which will be accompanied by the first-ever music video of McKeown s career (video debut: Jan 2013)

The politically charged Manifestra, which according to its author "describes a statement of purpose and unity, a clear action from a female perspective, a bright hope," begins appropriately with Politician, a bluesy, Stax-meets-Sub Pop takedown of public officials who utilize religion in lieu of band aids in the face of a scandal.
The CD includes a BONUS disc of Erin McKeown performing the entire album SOLO acoustic. NPR announced MANIFRESTRA album with November 19 MP3 premiere of The Jailer. Musician, writer, and producer Erin McKeown announces MANIFESTRA, her 7th studio album and second on her own label TVP Records.
Just about every note and lyric on Erin McKeown’s Manifestra’’ is a step away from the norm. Yet the songs are so beguiling you can’t help but follow. Critiques of the status quo open and close the album, with The Politician being a broad sketch of dubious character, and Baghdad to the Bayou a broadside against war and corporate greed that draws its strength in a chorus of voices. She tackles the personal, sounding vulnerable on the probing Delight/Divide and empowering on Histories, a call to overthrow tyrannies born in tradition.
