Gram Parsons began recording these hip folk songs and originals on a friend's reel-to-reel while still a teenager and before acquiring the fragile twang that became his country-rock signature. Parsons sounds convincingly expressive singing tunes by Fred Neil, Tom Paxton, and Buffy Sainte-Marie. But the precocious sophistication of Parsons originals like "Zah's Blues," "November Nights" (intro’d as "sort of a Bach-ian thing"), and "Brass Buttons" presage the brief, brilliant career lying just around the bend.

Gram Parsons (November 5, 1946 – September 19, 1973) was an American singer, songwriter, guitarist and pianist.
