- Music By – Lucas J. Margulies
Carnivore is the first studio album by the crossover thrash band Carnivore. It was released in 1985 through Roadrunner Records. The album was first released on CD in 1990 in original form, and again in 1991 without track 5 but with most of the songs from the 1987 Retaliation album. It was reissued on January 23, 2001, with an addition of three bonus demo tracks and with a different album cover. These songs would be officially recorded later to appear on their next album.
John Silver or Long John Silver is a fictional character and the main antagonist in the novel Treasure Island (1883) by Robert Louis Stevenson. The most colourful and complex character in the book, he continues to appear in popular culture. His one-leggedness and parrot, in particular, have greatly contributed to the image of the pirate in popular culture.

CARNIVORE Reforms As CARNIVORE . The classic "Retaliation" lineup of CARNIVORE is reforming as CARNIVORE . out of great respect to Peter Steele's legacy while simultaneously distinguishing themselves from past incarnations of the band. Marc Piovanetti states: "Last May, I was very fortunate to perform CARNIVORE music live again for the very first time in over twenty years. The jubilant and humbling reception I received confirmed to me that Peter Steele is gone, but his epic legacy is not forgotten. I am also very pleased to have the honor of presenting this distinguished performance of Peter and Keith's music to their own friends and family members here in the greatest city in the world, at New York's Bowery Electric club. The 'Carnivorous Negative family scene' is finally whole once again, and I can't wait to see what the future brings.
Long John Silver is the book's most powerful and developed character, one whose motivation is believable but not unambiguous and whose complexity makes Treasure. Silver is much more than a type; he is a genuine individual, attractive and repellent by turns, frightening at times and at other times nearly sympathetic, always compelling. Unlike the other characters, Silver is presented in specifics: You know his age, his appearance, and something of his history. He is the only one who seems to have a life outside the novel, a past and a future for which there is actual evidence in the text. And he is the only character who is presented against type; Jim describes him as "intelligent and smiling.
Hardcore thrash, New York style, it has a heavy punk influence and harsh lyrics about the world we live in, including some that still hold up today (such as the frightening "Race War" and "Inner Conflict"). Somewhat like a punker version of Slayer, this is their second (and best) album.
