The Rolling Stones, ‘Miss You’. Writers: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards Producers: The Glimmer Twins Released: May '78, Rolling Stones 20 weeks; No. 1. The Stones were in Toronto, rehearsing for their classic gigs at the El Mocambo Club, when Jagger, jamming with R&B legend Billy Preston, came up with "Miss Yo. With a disco groove and a touch of the blues via a harmonica player they found in a Paris subway, it became the band's first Number One hit in five years. It's a good-ass video," Timberlake told Rolling Stone. I didn't want anyone to come off smelling like roses. Appears on: Justified (Jive).

After wearing out all my Stones vinyl albums I found this great compilation of some of their best tracks over the years from "Little Red Rooster" and "It's All over Now" up until near now this is an excellent greatest hits type package. This is a pretty decent set and contains most of their hits and singles over the decades. Each CD is housed in their own sleeve, a black colored sleeve, and numbered 1, 2, 3, respectively. It also comes with a booklet on the band and some reproduction inserts of their concerts over the years.

The early 60s blues scene was a purists’ movement, but their second album demonstrates how eclectic and boundary-blurring the early Stones were, boldly defining a space of their own somewhere between blues, rock’n’roll and soul, amping up the pace and the attitude of each to thrilling effect. The Rolling Stones saved their most audacious mid-60s pop experiments for singles – Paint It Black, Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow? – but Aftermath still cuts a ferocious swathe through Swinging London. Bracingly hostile from its opening line ( What a drag it is getting old ), its sneering, screw-you attitude is tempered by the dulcimer-led baroque pop of Lady Jane.
