John "Ace" Cannon (May 5, 1934 – December 6, 2018) was an American tenor and alto saxophonist. He played and toured with Hi Records stablemate Bill Black's Combo, and started a solo career with his record "Tuff" in 1961, using the Black combo as his backing group. Tuff" hit on the . Billboard Hot 100 in 1962, and the follow-up single "Blues (Stay Away from Me)" hit that same year.

Ace Cannon, born as John Cannon (Grenada, Mississippi, may 5, 1934), is an American tenor and alto saxophonist. He was one of the most prominent artists of Hi Records in the 1960s. At the age of 10 for the first time he played the saxophone. His father worked as a violinist and guitarist in Memphis and the surrounding area. The young Cannon went to the Hollywood Junior High School and Tech High school, where he played in school orchestras.
