Notes
"This album constitutes a collaboration, experimental in nature, between Tim and myself. It is an attempt for both of us to move outside our own recognizable boundaries and try new directions - new forms of music which we rarely get to explore on our own. It is a chance to stretch, an opportunity to grow, and a hell of a lot of fun." - D. FogelbergBarcode and Other Identifiers

Twin Sons of Different Mothers is an album by American singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg and jazz flautist Tim Weisberg, released in 1978 (see 1978 in music). It was the first of two collaborations between the pair; the second was No Resemblance Whatsoever. The closing track of the album, "The Power of Gold," was released as a single, reaching number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100; the record would be Weisberg's lone chart hit as an artist. All songs written by Dan Fogelberg, except where noted.

Dan played a solo version of an instrumental tune that ended up on the Twin Sons album, I think it was Guitar Etude No. .it may have been Lazy Susan. Anyway, after the song, Tim Weisberg came out on stage. It was supposed to be a surprise. About a year later, Twin Sons of Different Mothers were born. I've often wondered since then if that "surprise visit" from Tim was a publicity stunt that they pulled on a number of concerts during Dan's tour, but I doubt it now, since a publicity stunt would obviously lose steam after a year and the whole thing would have been pointless. Either way, Twin Sons turned out to be a great album. Great album, if you like Fogelberg you will like this also. One person found this helpful.

Rather than simply employing jazz musicians as his musical backing, Fogelberg here went for an all-out collaboration with jazz flutist Tim Weisberg, even to the point of having him co-produce the album. As experimental as the album appeared on the surface, it was the perfect mix of jazz-tinged instrumental music and folk- and country-inspired pop/rock
The Twin Sons Of Different Mothers album was a collaboration between Fogelberg and Tim Weisberg. This song is about greed taking a person over without that person being aware of it. At one point, the singer asks a friend if he or she is "under the power of gold," because "the face you're wearing is different now," and to "balance the cost of the soul you lost, with the dreams you lightly sold. More songs about the dangers of materialism. More songs with metals in the title. Tim from Denver, CoThe song features Don Henley and Tim Schmidt on backup vocals. Michael BoltonSongwriter Interviews.
