Fernando Falcão - Memória das Águas album download
Memória Das Águas is a trip, moving seamlessly between swathes of avant murk, African polyrhythms, cinematic ambient flecked with field recordings, exuberant Brazilian jazz, maybe some Balinese Kecak influence, and a stripped down percussive number that, even in 2018, still sounds like the future. I’ll say it again: 1979. Instrumentally, that means cabasa, tumba, pandeiro, ganzá, contrabass, horn, flute, piccolo, piano, sax, timpani, violin, jug, and several different vocal ensembles. Functionally, it means this isn’t background music.
Unique and untapped journeyman Fernando Falcão’s cult records Memória das Águas and Barracas Barrocas are set to be reissued for the first time via Selva Discos. Falcão fled Brazil during the military dictatorship of the late 20th century. After living in France for 15 years, he soon became a versatile artist, honing skills in music, acting, sculpting and circus performance. He drew on these experiences to create his first album, Memória das Águas, recorded in 1979, and released in 1981. However, due to the LP being privately pressed in Brazil it was largely unheard elsewhere
Memória das Águas and Barracas Barrocas were recorded during Falcão's exile to France. Brazilian Optimo Music sub-label Selva Discos will reissue two albums by Fernando Falcão this August. Falcão was active as a musician and poet in São Paulo during the protest movements of 1968, and eventually landed on the radar of the military regime after planting a bomb against the military dictatorship. Following this incident, his older brother sent him to France under fear that he'd be arrested and jailed for life.
Fernando Falcão has been played on NTS over 10 times, featured on 17 episodes and was first played on 5 January 2017. An active participant in the student movement in a military-ridden Brazil, Falcão lived in exile in Paris for 12 years. There, he created various percussion instruments, many built by the French artist François Lalanne, father of actress Valerie Kling, with whom he got married. He recorded three albums and, like many others, died forgotten and forsaken by his own country. Fernando Falcão,Poitou,1981.
Entre dos aguas is the first compilation album by the Spanish guitarist and composer Paco de Lucía. Original 1975 LP track listing. Malagueña de Lecuona". Andalucía de Lecuona".
