Włodzimierz Kotoński (born 23 August 1925 in Warsaw), is a Polish composer. Kotoński studied with Piotr Rytel and Tadeusz Szeligowski at the PWSM in Warsaw, graduating in 1951. In an initial period of activity he took an interest in folk music from the Podhale region in southern Poland. In his book Electronic Music (Cracow, 2002), Wlodzimierz Kotonski describes the composition procedure: "Unlike the vast majority of musique concrète that has been created to date, here the material has been reworked in a very strict manner, modelled on serial electronic compositions. The whole was composed according to the principles of total serialism. Włodzimierz Kotoński (23 August 1925 – 4 September 2014) was a Polish composer. Born in Warsaw, Kotoński studied there with Piotr Rytel and Tadeusz Szeligowski at the PWSM, graduating in 1951.

Polish Radio Experimental Studio - PRES (Polish: Studio Eksperymentalne Polskiego Radia) in Warsaw – an experimental music studio, where electronic and utility pieces were recorded. The studio was established in 1957 and operated until 2004. Composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Elżbieta Sikora, Włodzimierz Kotoński, and Bohdan Mazurek created in the studio.

The Computer Music Studio of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music has worked since 1990 (attached to the FCUM’s Chair of Composition). It was founded at the initiative of prof.
