After the Beatles completed their second Hamburg residency, they enjoyed increasing popularity in Liverpool with the growing Merseybeat movement The Beatles with Ed Sullivan, February 1964. The group's popularity generated unprecedented interest in British music, and a number of other UK acts subsequently made their own American debuts, successfully touring over the next three years in what was termed the British Invasion. The Beatles' success in the US opened the door for a successive string of British beat groups and pop acts such as the Dave Clark.

This was the British Invasion, and the Beatles were its undisputed leaders. In 1963, the Fab Four released their first . single, Please Please Me. That same year, the term Beatlemania was coined to describe the phenomenal outburst of enthusiasm in England. The group that initially gave the Beatles the best run for their money was the Dave Clark Five, who hailed from London’s northern suburb of Tottenham. The Beatles (commonly known as The White Album) is the eponymous tenth studio album by English rock band The Beatles.
Description: The Beatles is the ninth official album by the English rock group The Beatles, a double album released in 1968. It is commonly known as The White Album as it has no graphics or text other than the band's name (and, on the early LP and CD releases, a serial number) on its plain white sleeve. The album was the first the Beatles undertook following the death of their manager, Brian Epstein, and the first released by their own record label, Apple. The Beatles was written and recorded during a period of turmoil for the group. After visiting the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in India and having a particularly productive songwriting session in early 1968, the group returned to the studio for recording from May to October 1968, only to have conflict and dissent drive the group members apart.
The Beatles album with the longest consecutive time spent at number one is their debut album Please Please Me at 30 weeks. No one is quite sure where the name Beatles originated, though the most likely story is that John Lennon liked the name The Crickets after Buddy Holly’s band.
