After the Beatles completed their second Hamburg residency, they enjoyed increasing popularity in Liverpool with the growing Merseybeat movement The Beatles with Ed Sullivan, February 1964. The group's popularity generated unprecedented interest in British music, and a number of other UK acts subsequently made their own American debuts, successfully touring over the next three years in what was termed the British Invasion. The Beatles' success in the US opened the door for a successive string of British beat groups and pop acts such as the Dave Clark.

Written By: James E. Miller. Last Updated: May 29, 2019 See Article History. Alternative Titles: Fab Four, the Silver Beatles. The Beatles, formerly called the Quarrymen or the Silver Beatles, byname Fab Four, British musical quartet and a global cynosure for the hopes and dreams of a generation that came of age in the 1960s. The principal members were John Lennon (b. October 9, 1940, Liverpool, Merseyside, England-d. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, an album avidly greeted by young people around the world as indisputable evidence not only of the band’s genius but also of the era’s utopian promise. More than a band of musicians, the Beatles had come to personify, certainly in the minds of millions of young listeners, the joys of a new counterculture of hedonism and uninhibited music and with new ways of life.

The famous british group The beatles. They were a symbol for the young generation of the sixties who were rebelling against the old traditional ideals. They started a boom in British pop music. The group was formed in 1961. The members of the group were: John Lennon (rhythm guitar and vocals), Paul McCartney (bass guitar and vocals), George Harrison (lead guitar and vocals) and Ringo Starr (drums and vocals). They were born in Liverpool and first began singing there  . It is the famous crossing, along which The Beatles marched on the photo of their album Abbey Road. Then, you arrive at their famous studio, which is in the same street.

This was the British Invasion, and the Beatles were its undisputed leaders. In 1963, the Fab Four released their first . single, Please Please Me. That same year, the term Beatlemania was coined to describe the phenomenal outburst of enthusiasm in England. The group that initially gave the Beatles the best run for their money was the Dave Clark Five, who hailed from London’s northern suburb of Tottenham. Although they placed a poor second to the Beatles, the DC5 racked up seventeen Top Forty hits between 1964 and 1967 - more than the Rolling Stones or any other British act during that span of years. He produced James Taylor‘s first album at Apple, but his most famous client is Linda Ronstadt, whose classic sound he helped tailor in the Seventies. Some of the loudest, rawest and toughest music of the British Invasion came out of London.

The Beatles (commonly known as The White Album) is the eponymous tenth studio album by English rock band The Beatles.

Description: The Beatles is the ninth official album by the English rock group The Beatles, a double album released in 1968. It is commonly known as The White Album as it has no graphics or text other than the band's name (and, on the early LP and CD releases, a serial number) on its plain white sleeve. The album was the first the Beatles undertook following the death of their manager, Brian Epstein, and the first released by their own record label, Apple. The Beatles was written and recorded during a period of turmoil for the group. After visiting the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in India and having a particularly productive songwriting session in early 1968, the group returned to the studio for recording from May to October 1968, only to have conflict and dissent drive the group members apart.

The Beatles album with the longest consecutive time spent at number one is their debut album Please Please Me at 30 weeks. No one is quite sure where the name Beatles originated, though the most likely story is that John Lennon liked the name The Crickets after Buddy Holly’s band.
