Hypothetical is a music studio album recording by THRESHOLD (Progressive Metal/Progressive Rock) released in 2001 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. Hypothetical Inside Out . Hypothetical by Threshold Inside Out.
Overall, a solid album with the exception of Keep My Head. Threshold are not the musical masturbators that Dream Theater are, with just the right amount of technicality to be impressive but not pretentious, and the solos and songwriting on the album show it. Groom and West spit out some great solos throughout the album. Hypothetical might be a good place to start with the band for a taste of their style, but there are higher peaks in the Threshold discography. Still, it’s not to be missed for any fan.
Critical Mass is the sixth album by British progressive metal band Threshold. It was recorded in early 2002 and released in September. It is also the last album to feature original bassist Jon Jeary, who left immediately after the release. He was replaced by Steve Anderson, who appears on the live album Critical Energy and subsequent albums. Phenomenon" (Richard West) – 5:27. Choices" (Karl Groom, Jon Jeary) – 8:21. Falling Away" (West) – 6:53. Fragmentation" (Groom, Jeary) – 6:34.

Threshold's 2001 album Hypothetical serves as their magnum opus, the album tht defines the band. Ever since the orgin of the band, they had slowly been drifting away from a keyboard led sound and by this album they had come to the perfect mix of guitar driven and keyboard driven music. The big difference is Threshold is much tamer, without the sky-high vocals and dueling keyboard/guitar lead lines. This is what seperates them and puts them above the generic list of power metal bands and makes them a relatively fresh band. The opening track Light And Space is a great combo meal of what Threshold is all about.
Threshold - Hypothetical 8 songs lyrics: Light And Space, Turn On Tune In, The Ravages Of Time, Sheltering Sky, Oceanbound, Long Way Home, Keep My Head, Narcissus.

Hypothetical is album of the month in Germany’s bigest megazine, Rockhard, and it’s easy to understand. Not one album that combines whiplash riffs with progressive elements and even catchy songs in this way comes to my mind. While the last record, Clone, was more straight ahead, Hypothetical has a bit of every Threshold release thrown into one big basket. The British seem more influenced by prog rock from the 70’s, while they also have a heavy metal foundation. It’s really no hypothesis that Threshold have released an album that just a few bands in this genre will top this year.
