While Darkthrone established, let's say, a foundation for the black metal to thrive with their 2nd album, it seems like they are now showing some musical prowess to all musicians with "Transilvanian Hunger": despite their minimal structure; little variation in song structure with only 3~4 riffs per songs, it sounds like a qualitatively chock-fulled album like "Slumber of Sullen.

Transilvanian Hunger is for Darkthrone what is Ace of Spades for Motörhead. The first four Songs of Transilvanian Hunger were written by Fenriz and the other four Songs were written by Varg Vikernes. The Album was released in 1994 and on the front cover of the Album you see a scary picture of Fenriz with a candlestick in his Hand and I think this Cover should sure remind on the Cover of Mayhem's Live Classic from 1993

Of course, Transilvanian Hunger does not support a massive change in comparison to Darkthrone's previous efforts. Hell, people might even think of this album as worse than its predecessors, because Darkthrone deliberately cut back on the variety, and as such this record may come off as slightly boring, especially when compared to A Blaze In the Northern Sky. However, in my opinion the lack of variety is more than made up by the crushing, beating, howling and just plain raw musical power. As a true black metal classic, Transilvanian Hunger is an album that no black metal fan should miss
