The Black Ships (in Japanese: 黒船, kurofune, Edo period term) was the name given to Western vessels arriving in Japan in the 16th and 19th centuries. The large carracks engaged in this trade had the hull painted black with pitch, and the term came to represent all western vessels
Black Ships was a 4-piece from Montreal, Canada playing brooding, dark hardcore. They formed in 2005 and split-up in 2009. They've released one EP "Low" and one full-length "Omens". The Line-up consisted of Jamie (vocals,guitar), Marc (guitar), Adam (bass) and Taylor (drums). After their split they restarted their old band Thunder Bay and Marc and Taylor also play in Barn Burner.
