Absinthe: The French Album. Absinthe: The French Album. 1993 Issue of the Soft Cell Singer's 1990 Solo Tribute to French Chanson that was Recorded at the Same Time as his Tribute to Jacques Brel ("Jacques"). Includes Songs by Juliette Greco, Leo Ferre, Barbara and Charles Aznavour as Well as Musical Interpretations of Poems by Jean-paul Sartre and Rimbaud. Sample this album Artist (Sample).

Initially recorded with some of the Jacques sessions but then completed in 1990 after the final break with longtime collaborator Annie Hogan, Absinthe can't quite equal the brilliance of Marc Almond's Brel tribute; as a loving overview and celebration of many other French songs that provided him inspiration, though it's a more than fine release

Later released in the Marc Almond album Stranger Things reissue, 2010. Lead vocals on "Out of My Soul" and "Please Stay". Featured vocals on "Out of My Soul (Reprise)". Hyacinths and Thistles. The song belong to an unreleased soundtrack album for Rhythm & Blues, a British comedy. Electro-Fiction - Les Belles Promesses électroniques. Lead vocals on "Hell". Later released with a different name "Tale of a Tart (Hell)", on the Marc Almond album Open All Night reissue, 2010.
