Lady Sings the Blues is an album by American jazz vocalist Billie Holiday released in December 1956. It was Holiday's last album released on Clef Records; the following year, the label would be absorbed by Verve Records. Lady Sings the Blues was taken from sessions taped during 1954 and 1956. It was released simultaneously with her ghostwritten autobiography of the same name.

And while these autumnal sides bear some of the frayed vocal moments often heard on Holiday's '50s Verve sides, the majority here still ranks with her best material

Lady Sings the Blues (оригинал Billie Holiday). Леди поёт блюз (перевод Алекс). The blues ain't nothin' like a pain in your heart, Блюз – просто боль в твоём сердце, When you get a bad start

Album · 2011 · 12 Songs. Lady Sings the Blues. Billie Holiday & Tony Scott and His Orchestra.

Lady Sings the Blues was Billie Holiday’s last album for producer Norman Granz’ Clef Records & Verve Records. The sessions were recorded during 1954 and 1956, and released late in 1956 in conjunction with her autobiography of the same name. Holiday is in top form, backed by many jazz greats including tenor saxophonists Budd Johnson and Paul Quinichette, trumpeters Charlie Shavers and Harry Sweets Edison, pianist Wynton Kelly, and guitarist Kenny Burrell. These autumnal sides bear the frayed vocal moments that brought so much depth to Lady’s late career.

Now the world will know, just what her blues is all about. The blues ain't nothin' like a pain in your heart, when you get a bad start, when you and your man have to part. I ain't gonna just sit around and cry, i know i won't die, 'cause i love him. Lady sings the blues, i'm tellin' you, she's got 'em bad, but now the world will know, she's never gonna sing them no more. Billie Holiday Lyrics. album: "Lady Sings The Blues" (1956).
