La question is the eleventh studio album by French singer-songwriter Françoise Hardy, released in October 1971 on Sonopresse. Like many of her previous records, it was originally released without a title and came to be referred to, later on, by the name of its most popular song. It is her second album produced under Hypopotam, a production company she established in 1970
Album · 1970 · 11 Songs. Francoise Hardy came of age in the mid-‘60s as the French equivalent of Marianne Faithfull (or, perhaps, Marianne is the English equivalent to Hardy!) with somber, sentimental folk-based pop songs that were orchestrated to straddle the lines between many genres. Hardy began her career singing in French and eventually recorded a few of her albums in English in hopes of expanding her audience. She has remained a French treasure. 1971’s La Question, is a brilliant French collection that even those non-conversant in French should find quite beguiling.

Listen free to Françoise Hardy – La Question (Viens, La Question and more). Throughout her career, most of Françoise Hardy’s arrangements have tended toward the lush, though in a good way. La Question is lush too, but it’s one of her most sparsely produced efforts, usually finding her voice accompanied by little more than an acoustic guitar, touches of bass, and very subtle orchestration
La Question is lush too, but it's one of her most sparsely produced efforts, usually finding her voice accompanied by little more than an acoustic guitar, touches of bass, and very subtle orchestration. Much of the record's lights-low ambience could be attributed to Tuca (no last name given), who played guitar, co-arranged, and co-wrote most of the tunes (though Hardy did contribute to the composition of a few tracks). It may be her best post-'60s effort, songs like "Chanson d'O" and "Le Martien" featuring some of her most whispery, seductive vocals.
Françoise Hardy is the second studio album of the French popular singer Françoise Hardy, released in October 1963 on LP by French label Disques Vogue (FH 1). Like of Hardy's earlier album, the album was released with no title, except for her name on the cover, and this album colloquially become known by the title of its most successful song, "Le Premier Bonheur du jour" ("The First Joy of the Day").
