Artist: Yo La Tengo Album: Fade (Deluxe Version) Song: Move to California (Times New Viking cover). We'll just move to California, move to California, there we'll have a better time. Verse: We'll start it up again, Tonight we'll sit in darkness, pretend that the earth's not round And this cup of tea is not the drug for me Our bodies will lay as all dead bodies would lie When you're thinking in the morning, please remember, I tried. Yo La Tengo capture the feeling of post-traumatic calm on their latest album, assuring their status as a wry and comforting cornerstone of indie rock. Since adding James McNew in the early 1990s, Yo La Tengo have singularly defined American indie rock, merging their sui generis suburban psychedelia with a record collector’s urge to re-animate rock history and a mordant sense of humor about the inherently silly nature of their chosen profession

Produced by Roger Moutenot & Fred Brockman. The Whole of the Law Lyrics. Well, I used to have the notion I could swim the length of the ocean If I knew that you were waiting for me I used to have the notion I could swim the length of the ocean I'd plumb the depths of every sea for you. I'd escape from my chains And I'll reach out for you. Maybe I'm in love with you Maybe, maybe I'm in love with you I had to contact you, found out I was in love with you I had to contact

Yo La Tengo is at its best when the amps are turned down and the songs occupy quieter territory. When the band released their fourth album Fakebook in 1990, they added a folk-rock gloss over their scrappy brand of indie rock, sprinkling in acoustic-led originals like Did I Tell You alongside covers by The Kinks, Cat Stevens, NRBQ, and more. It marked a new direction that the band would explore more in-depth on the 11 albums to come.

Yo La Tengo have been going for years and have a produced a fine array of esoteric albums taking in a whole variety of styles sometimes within the same album. They are over touring in support of their new largely covers album. Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals opens the night with a solo acoustic set that was difficult to hear and even more difficult to see as he was sat down and Shepherds Bush Empire has at best a flat floor and at worst an inverse camber. Yo la Tengo was also very accommodating to their audience when I saw them perform by honoring the wishes of the audience’s song selections. There are evident reasons why Yo la Tengo has a strong cult following and are recognized as the quintessential critic’s band. When going to a Yo la Tengo concert you will never know what to expect, except a great time of music making. Report as inappropriate.
