Comes in a standard jewel case with four page booklet. Tangerine Dream frontman Edgar Froese's solo output always closely mirrored stylistically that of TangD's output at any given time. This 1983 offering sounds in both song construction and sound palette close to TangD's White Eagle and Hyperborea, no bad thing! Rhythmic opener 'specific gravity of smile'' slow but naively sweet 'the light cone', gauzy/trippy 'walkabout' and the excellent 20min+ 'pinnacles' make up the album.
Stuntman is the fifth solo album released by Tangerine Dream leader Edgar Froese, in 1979. Froese later remixed the album and released it with a new cover.

Edgar Willmar Froese (6 June 1944 – 20 January 2015) was a German artist and electronic music pioneer, best known for founding the electronic music group Tangerine Dream. Although his solo and group recordings prior to 2003 name him as "Edgar Froese", his solo albums from 2003 onwards bear the name "Edgar W. Froese".
It can be very difficult to write about an artist with a reputation like Edgar Froese. Such thoughts can cloud one's judgment and objectivity. But Froese has not been on the e-music forefront for 30-plus years for nothing. He has stayed there because he is a great musician. Pinnacles showcases his penchant for gentle melodies, heavy sequences, and light atmospheres. This disc is firmly in the middle of the Berlin school, of which Froese is a founder. This CD will appeal to fans of Alpha Wave Movement, Klaus Schulze, Dweller at the Threshold, and Radio Massacre International.
This album sounds a bit like Tangerine dream's "White eagle", "Hyperborea" and some of their soundtracks of the corresponding years. There is omnipresent, varied and lively beat sequencers and many discrete keyboards layers. There is one precious stone here. Last Edgar Froese's album from its "classic" 70-80 period, "Pinnacles" features a cold synthetic sound similar to "White Eagle". It also adopts the same structure of the TANGERINE DREAM studio albums of this period: one twenty minutes long suite, one short track and two mid-length pieces. The title comes from a region in Australia with strange rocks rooted in the desert sands.

Pinnacles" was Edgar Froese's 5th solo album released by Virgin, dating from 1983, some four years after his previous effort, "Stuntman". It is purported to have been inspired by a region of outback in Western Australia. Another release was remastered by Edgar Froese and includes new material added into the mix. The solo effort was a nice artistic departure by Froese, as the soundscapes have a more melodic quality. The title cut (21:54) slowly builds into a powerful piece, while the remaining three selections provide intriguing textures. This is the real thing and an overlooked gem from the Froese catalog.
