The Slaughterhouse (album). The Chocolate Invasion (subtitled Trax from the NPG Music Club Volume One) is the 29th full-length studio album by Prince, and is the first compilation album of NPG Music Club downloads from 2001-2; a companion piece to The Slaughterhouse (released on the same day). In 2003, the album was planned for inclusion as the centerpiece of the The Chocolate Invasion 7 CD set, which was put on hold indefinitely in late 2003, officially due to a manufacturing problem.

Day 24: The Slaughterhouse. There’s something about the ‘npg’ font on this sleeve (and perhaps the previous record more so as a whole) that reminds me of bad, cocktail-heavy nights at cheesy clubs filled with people who wear a lot of white. Maybe Prince is playing there, but I’m not sure that even they would go for this. Yes, I missed another day, but I did try to listen to this while cycling last night. Looking at my times it doesn’t seem to have made too much of a difference so I can’t provide any empirical evidence as a distraction there
The Slaughterhouse album by Prince released through NPG Records 2004. Trivia, track listing and the singles released from the album. Called The Slaughterhouse the songs on it were tracks written and recorded between 2001 and 2002. The song 2045: Radical Man had been earlier released on the soundtrack CD for Spike Lee’s movie Bamboozled, on 26 September 2000. Prince had hopes to release all the songs from the music club as part of a 7-CD set, however only The Slaughterhouse and the first volume, The Chocolate Invasion materialised because the production of the remaining five CD was thwarted by manufacturing difficulties. Larry Graham Peace and The Daisy Chain.

The album takes its name from Silicon, which starts off Welcome to the slaughterhouse. The Slaughterhouse is often excluded in Prince’s discography as one of his studio albums, but it is in every essence a compilation of previously unreleased and studio-finished music and so must be counted. If you are looking for rare releases from Prince’s vault you are in the right place. The songs of note are Silicon for its pulsating backdrop
