Yasiin Bey (/jæˈsiːn ˈbeɪ/; born Dante Terrell Smith; December 11, 1973), better known by his stage name Mos Def (/ˌmoʊs ˈdɛf/), is an American rapper, singer, actor and activist. Best known for his music, Bey began his hip hop career in 1994, alongside his siblings in the short-lived rap group Urban Thermo Dynamics (UTD), after which he appeared on albums by Da Bush Babees and De La Soul.

Super-influential rappers Kendrick Lamar and Mos Def (real name Yasiin Bey) have teamed up at Canada’s Osheaga Festival, with Bey freestyling over Lamar’s Alright. As Pigeons And Planes reports, the duo’s onstage collaboration took place as Lamar headlined the second night of the Montreal event. Footage of the team-up (below) shows Lamar Lamar spotting his big bro Bey at the side of stage and encouraging him to make an appearance for the huge crowd in attendance. When Bey eventually takes to the stage, he dances his way through Lamar’s King Kunta, before the crowd start chanting lyrics from.

Rapper Yasiin Bey, aka Mos Def, made a rare live appearance during Kendrick Lamar’s headlining set at Osheaga Music Festival on Saturday. According to Pigeons and Planes, Mos Def was watching Kendrick’s performance from the side of the stage. After some prodding by Kendrick, he finally hit the stage and danced along to King Kunta.
