After the main Channel One rhythm section of drummer Sly Dunbar and bassist Robbie Shakespeare left to launch their own label Taxi Records, the Revolutionaries evolved into the Roots Radics.
The Roots Radics Band was formed in 1978 by bass player Errol "Flabba" Holt, guitarist Eric "Bingy Bunny" Lamont and drummer Lincoln "Style" Scott. They were joined by many musicians, including guitarist Noel "Sowell" Bailey, Dwight Pinkney and Steve Golding, keyboard player Wycliffe "Steelie" Johnson, Pianist Gladstone "Gladdy" Anderson and saxophonist Headley Bennett.

The Roots Radics have been the hottest backing band in reggae for more than two decades now, working with legends ranging from crooners like Gregory Isaacs and Culture to dancehall toasters like Yellowman and Eek A Mouse. So it comes as little surprise that this album - the 1989 dub version of their Hot We Hot album, which is being released on CD for the first time - has a classic feel.
