Winning" is a pop rock single originally written and recorded by Russ Ballard on his 1976 album of the same name. It was subsequently recorded by Latin rock band Santana for the 1981 album, Zebop!. The lead vocal on the Santana version was performed by Alex Ligertwood. It was the sixth track on the album and was released as the third single (backed with "Brightest Star") and as a promotional music video.

Santana is the debut studio album by American Latin rock band Santana. It was released on August 30, 1969. Over half of the album's length is composed of instrumental music, recorded by what was originally a purely free-form jam band.

Album, 1969, Columbia Records. Reissue in 1998 with bonus tracks. Album, 09 Ноябрь 1973, Sony Music.

Written by Russ Ballard and performed by him on his 1976 album of the same name, Santana took their own version of "Winning" to number 17 in May of 1981, staying within the Top 40 for a full 11 weeks. The single comes from 1981's Zebop! album, which also spawned a minor hit with "The Sensitive Kind," peaking at number 56. Zebop! was a rather commercial-sounding album for Santana, with less of a Latino air and more of a pop/rock glisten to the tracks
