A solo album from a drummer is rarely cause to celebrate, for invariably it arrives stillborn. But Kick Off Your Muddy Boots is a solo set from Moody Blues' skin basher Graeme Edge in name only, and instead is really a showcase for the Gurvitz brothers, or more precisely singer/guitarist Adrian. We Like to Do It. Graeme Edge Band.
Graeme Edge went his own way forming a band and trying a little harder sound. Still with overtones of the Moody's but with a hard guitar as put out by Adrian Gurvitz. I had this album in high school and always felt like it was a secret treasure. I don't know anyone else that owned this lush sophisticated Pop /Rock album that was Moody Blues in texture but not flavor. It is interesting that it is the Graeme Edge Band when Edge, of the Moody Blues is the Drummer and back up vocalist as well as co writer, and Adrian Gurvits is the Guitar and Lead Vocals and on one song Ginger Baker (of Cream) is Drumming. But any way you slice it, this is a hidden gem, that most people have never heard, but in fact should.
