Live at the BBC is a 1994 compilation album featuring performances by the Beatles that were originally broadcast on various BBC Light Programme radio shows from 1963 to 1965.

The album is a sinewy masterpiece. When they came in to play a few songs from it on our show they brought with them (as usual) a light show and their own PA. They won’t wear headphones; they play in a mini gig style. The story is told by a roguish, often absurd collection of characters, who take swipes at the present as they outline its future (as Turner croons on Batphone: "I launch my fragrance called Integrity, I sell the fact that I can’t be bought").

The band have made the LP of the year with their "wit, fury and frustration," BBC 6 Music DJs sa. Image caption Idles won best breakthrough act at the Q awards in October. Bristol band Idles, known for their incendiary live performances, have topped a list of 2018's best albums, compiled by BBC 6 Music presenters. The group's second album Joy as an Act of Resistance is "a really powerful record but it's still quite sly," said DJ Steve Lamacq. It's witty, it's got fury and it's got frustration," he added. US trio Khruangbin came second on the list with jazz artist Kamasi Washington in third place

Live at the BBC is a live compilation album by the British rock band Slade. It was released by Salvo in September 2009 and features two discs of material recorded by the band live at the BBC. The first disc comprises songs recorded for various BBC sessions between 1969–72, along with Radio One jingles recorded in 1973-74. The second disc is a twelve-song set recorded live at the Paris Theatre, London, in August 1972.

Live at the BBC or BBC Recordings are recordings originally made for or by BBC Radio 1. Many recordings were released under several name variants. Live at the BBC (The Beatles album), 1994. On Air – Live at the BBC Volume 2 (The Beatles album), 2013. Live at the BBC (The Beautiful South album). Live at the BBC (Robert Cray album), 2008. Live at the BBC (Curved Air album), 1995. Live at the BBC (Sandy Denny album), 2007. Live at the BBC (Dire Straits album), 1995.

Years of playing for drunken and disinterested audiences had sharpened their stage skills to the point where nothing could faze them - not even playing the same songs over and over, week after week, for the BBC's various radio programs. On Air - Live at the BBC Volume 2,' the follow-up to 1994's 'Live at the BBC,' gathers 40 songs the Beatles performed on BBC shows in 1963 and 1964. You've heard most of them before on other Beatles records (including the '94 set), even though all but three of the versions here are previously unreleased.

The strength of the BBC was that it was able to manage change and their welcome to the Beatles was magnanimous and the Beatles’ willingness to put a girdle round the earth to get on the air was almost selfless. They worked like dogs – once recording eighteen songs in one day (16 July 1963). At first, knowing the value of radio they were glad and proud to use it. In the end, they did it as a duty but nonetheless, long after grabbing world fame, they continued to talk to Britain with a good spirit for, I presume, scale fees
