Negative feedback (or balancing feedback) occurs when some function of the output of a system, process, or mechanism is fed back in a manner that tends to reduce the fluctuations in the output, whether caused by changes in the input or by other disturbances. Whereas positive feedback tends to lead to instability via exponential growth, oscillation or chaotic behavior, negative feedback generally promotes stability.

The Feedback Principle, in electronics, is implied when a measure of the output signal from some system is applied, or fed back, to the input of the same system. By this means the system input can be controlled to compensate for undesired output states or signals, and the system stability is improved. The principle may be considered as a way in which a mechanical or electrical system â€˜learns from its errorsâ€™. Feedback is used in a myriad of diverse applications
Feedback is said to exist in an amplifier circuit, when a fraction of the output signal is returned or fed back to the input and combined with the input signal. If the magnitude of the input signal is reduced by the feed back, the feed back is called negative or degenerative. If the magnitude of the input signal is increased by the feed back, such feed back is called positive or regenerative. Principle of feedback amplifier. The general theory of feedback can be explained with the help of block diagram shown in Fig. The feedback amplifier has two parts (. ) amplifier and feedback circuit. The feedback circuit usually consists of passive components (resistor, capacitor, inductor). A fraction (say β) of the output voltage is fed back to the input through the feedback circuit. Let V′ο be the output voltge with feedback. Therefore, after feedback the input voltage V1i becomes, V1i Vi + βV1ο ������(1).
The feedback principle states that novice students learn better wiThexplanatory feedback than with corrective feedback alone. Explanatory feedback provides the learner with a principle-based explanation of why his or her answer was correct or incorrect, whereas corrective feedback merely informs the learner that his or her response was correct or incorrect. The purpose of feedback in serious games and simulations is to direct learners to improve performance, motivation, or learning outcomes by various methods of providing information to learners about the correctness of their responses (Shute, 2008). Providing feedback allows a learner to evaluate his or her progress and responses, identify knowledge gaps, and repair faulty knowledge (Johnson & Priest, 2014).
