So What! was released in January 1988 and was well received by fans and critics. The album featured a cover version of the Sex Pistols' "Anarchy in the . Mustaine changed the lyrics, later saying that he had simply heard them incorrectly . Following nearly a year of recovery, including physical and electroshock therapy, Mustaine began work on what was to have been his first solo album. The new material was recorded with session musicians Vinnie Colaiuta and Jimmie Lee Sloas in October 2003.
Following the departure of band members Jeff Young and Chuck Behler in 1989, Rust in Peace was the first album to feature guitarist Marty Friedman and drummer Nick Menza. Rust in Peace received universal acclaim from fans and critics, and was responsible for bringing Megadeth to the attention of a mainstream metal audience.
So What!" - Extremely "Mustainish" album, without the influence of drug treatment and medics. Virtually all the compositions can be hung on a wall in a frame, in my opinion, except for "Set the World Afire", "502" and "Liar" - these 3 are somewhat weaker than others. A special place is occupied by one of the Megadeth's hymns - "In My Darkest Hour". This item is dedicated to Cliff Burton, with whom Dave played at the dawn of a misty youth in Metallica
So What! This album is so underrated. The opener, 'Into the lungs of hell' is a prime example of this album's strengths; namely supreme technicality, blistering speed, and attitude. The debut had the speed, Peace Sells and Rust In Peace had the technicality, but none of those albums had attitude.
The previous Megadeth album to this, "Peace Sells" showed the band showing their songwriting skills and musicianship. So Far" has a new line-up but the band sounds just as good and Dave Mustaine found a comfortable way of singing that sounds great for metal. The downside of this record is that it is way too short (only 8 songs). In addition to that, on 2 of the songs, you can tell that Dave is blatantly wasted on something and doesn't deliver 100 percent but just enough that the song is still decent ("502" comes to mind) .
