Notes"Ice - The String Tribute To Björk"
Features classic instrumental renditions of the introspective and atmospheric songs of today's most innovative musical talent. Björk's songs, richly layered emotional landscapes full of complex structures and exuberant orchestration, resonate with new intensity and an epic sweep when performed by these versatile cellists, violists and violinists.
ICE strips Björk's sonic testaments to their bare essence, the symphonic arrangements that are the core of her music, the artists utilizing the rich tones of their stringed instruments to likewise capture the spirit of Björk's lush and dreamy vocal stylings.

Ice is an instrumental tribute to the music of Björk. It features ten tracks culled from the Icelandic performer's post-Sugarcubes output, focusing specifically on material from Debut, Post, and Homogenic. What's remarkable - or perhaps unremarkable - is the ease with which many of these songs are translated to violin, viola, cello, and bass.
Ice is an instrumental tribute to the music of Björk. While Ice was not endorsed by the artist herself, the album is such a success that it could stand next to Björk's own Telegram remix LP as a document of her songs' limitless potential for sonic exploration.

What's so unique is that the violins actually capture the essence of Bjork's vocals, and recreate them on strings. The product is beautiful, but it doesn't work on a few songs, namely Big Time Sensuality.
