Ducktails is the self-titled debut studio album by American recording project Ducktails, released on May 11, 2009 on Not Not Fun. The album is the first of two full-length albums released in 2009, with Landscapes following three months later. Regarding the album's artwork, Matt Mondanile noted: "The first record – all those stripes – that’s this artist in Finland named Jan Anderzen. He makes this insane-o music, but I was super into his art for a long time. He just makes these crazy paintings.
Ducktails’ performances seem to perfectly encapsulate that jazz rock style of the 70’s and 80’s as well as incorporates their own unique sound of lo-fi, chillwave music. When seeing them live they will be sure to put you in a hazy trance and keep your feet tapping on the dance floor. Report as inappropriate. The Ducktails concert at Bowery Ballroom was AMAZING! I love the new album, it's Matt's best so far. The band was GREAT! To hear the music live just made me appreciate the album more. When, they performed "Heaven's Room" I was truly moved. I look forward to the next album and another Ducktails concert.

Ducktails is the one-man psychedelic pop project of Matthew Mondanile, guitarist for North Jersey up-and-comers Real Estate and more importantly, a proud son of the mid-1980s. If you happen to have tumblesaulted into the world at about the same time, Mondanile's solo wanderings- already corralled and categorized by some as tropical lo-fi or a part of the memory-mining hypnagogic pop shift- should represent a deep rabbit hole.
