Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll is an album by Chuck Berry and soundtrack to the film of the same name, which was released in 1987 under record label, MCA. The album was recorded live at The Fox Theatre, St Louis, Missouri and Berry Park, Wentzville, Missouri on October 6 and October 16, 1986. The event was held to celebrate Berry's 60th birthday and it included several special guests.

The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle is the soundtrack album of the film of the same name by the Sex Pistols. By the time the soundtrack was being prepared, Johnny Rotten (Lydon) had left the band and refused to participate in the project, so the "proper" Sex Pistols tracks were done by taking Lydon's vocals from the October 1976 demo session recordings and rerecording their instrumental tracks (done by Paul Cook and Steve Jones).

And rock & roll as an American musical form is very much like a delta, collecting elements from jazz, blues, country, gospel, R&B, show tunes, and whatever else was floating around into a high-charged, rambunctious music that defined and drove pop culture across the backwaters of the 20th century and into the 21st. where rock & roll began isn't exactly answered here, this set makes for a fascinating tour through some wonderfully cool and classic stuff like Amos Milburn's rollicking "Chicken Shack Boogie," Tampa Red's desperately frantic "It's Tight Like That" (from 1927), and Les Paul and Mary Ford's timelessly amazing "How High the Moon," the first single in the.

Etta James’ 1960 soaring lament All I Could Do Was Cry again seems a world away from rock and roll, with its lush studio string section and spacious, spare production. The song lacks the bite and growl of At Last! from the same album, but Marcus makes a weighty allusion in referring to two different versions. By including Beyoncé’s take on the song, the list hauls in the history of Chicago’s Chess records and Knowles' outstanding performance as James in 2008’s Cadillac Records, a film that takes us from Muddy Waters's electric blues to Chuck Berry's hybrid crossover sound

But all comparisons aside, this is a solid album of alternative rock that just happens to sound exactly like another good band who makes the same kind of music. Still, fans of this sort of music should give this a listen; it is really quite good.

Rock and Roll had it's beginnings in the 50s. There were many who could be considered to be the Fathers of Rock and Roll. Eddie Cochran was a real rocker of the fifties, a rebellious type of James Dean figure, sexual arrogance, but most of all his music and lyrics are still being adopted by contemporary standards. It is that of the teenage rebel conveyed in its most direct form. He expresses frustration at the impositions of the older generation, parents and employers in particular, the excitement of adolescent sex, the arrogance of a new found confidence contrasted with the uncertain tenderness of " real love " experienced for the first time.
