Romeo Is Bleeding" is a song written and performed by Tom Waits, and released on his 1978 album, Blue Valentine. The lyrics make frequent use of Spanish, including phrases such as "Hey Pachuco!", "Dáme esa pistola, hombre!" (Give me that pistol, man!), "Hijo de la chingada madre!" (You son of a fucking whore!), and "Vamos a dormir, hombre" (Let's go to sleep, man). Waits also makes a reference to gangster movie-star James Cagney, also mentioned in "Invitation to the Blues" from the album Small Change.
Live from Austin was put together as part of PBS’ now-legendary Austin City Limits concert collection, recorded in front of a live TV audience in the winter of 1978, a few months after Blue Valentine. The set itself never saw an audio release until 2009. The song, a beatific piano piece, never saw an official Waits album appearance, and was unfortunately omitted from the expansive Orphans B-side compilation from 2006. Annie eases into I Wish I Was in New Orleans off Small Change, before ending on a cheeky version of Harmonica Frank’s novelty song Ain’t Gonna Rain No Mo, with Waits doing more ad-libbing with lyrics: My daddy was a doctor, My mommy was a nurse.
Big Time is the first conventional live album by American musician Tom Waits, featuring performances from two shows on Waits' 1987 tour. The album was released less than a year later on Island Records. While Big Time was the first released recording of public concert performances by Waits, it was not strictly his first live release: his 1975 Nighthawks at the Diner was a live performance before an audience that was conducted entirely within a recording studio.
Tra i brani: On the Nickel; I Wish I Was in New Orleans; Romeo is Bleeding; Small Change.
