Middle of the Road is a Scottish pop group who have enjoyed success across Europe and Latin America since the 1970s. Before ABBA established themselves in the mid 70s, Middle of the Road were the sound of early europop with their distinctive harmonies and lead vocals from Sally Carr. Four of their singles sold over one million copies each, and received a gold disc: "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep". Sacramento", "Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum" and "Soley Soley".

Elton John was dangerously close to being an oldies act by 1983. His five albums since 1976's Blue Moves didn't live up to critical or commercial expectations, and his decision to dissolve his original band and work with songwriters other than Bernie Taupin didn't sit well with fans. He corrected all these errors on Too Low For Zero. Bernie wrote every song, and the entire old band came back. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road almost seems like a greatest-hits album. This 1973 double LP has "Candle in the Wind," "Bennie and the Jets," "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting. This was Elton at the peak of his popularity, when every kid on your street (and their parents) absolutely adored him.

Queen’s Greatest Hits is the UK’s biggest selling album of all time – but which song is the greatest? . Queen's Greatest Hits compilation may just be one of the rock world's most perfect collection of songs. More than any other rock band, before or since, Queen were both a great albums band and a great singles band. They could do it all – heavy rock, pop, opera, disco, gospel – and they did it all brilliantly. And the way those early hits were presented on this album was inspired – the breadth of Queen’s scope perfectly illustrated by the way the epic grandeur of Bohemian Rhapsody leads into the disco sizzle of Another One Bites The Dust.
