The Royal Opera House (ROH) is an opera house and major performing arts venue in Covent Garden, central London. The large building is often referred to as simply "Covent Garden", after a previous use of the site of the opera house's original construction in 1732. It is the home of The Royal Opera, The Royal Ballet, and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. Originally called the Theatre Royal, it served primarily as a playhouse for the first hundred years of its history
The Hungarian State Opera House (Hungarian: Magyar Állami Operaház) is a neo-Renaissance opera house located in central Budapest, on Andrássy út. Originally known as the Hungarian Royal Opera House, it was designed by Miklós Ybl, a major figure of 19th-century Hungarian architecture. Construction began in 1875, funded by the city of Budapest and by Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria-Hungary, and the new house opened to the public on the 27 September 1884. Although many opera houses have been built since, the Budapest Opera House is still among the best in terms of the acoustics. In front of the building are statues of Ferenc Erkel and Franz Liszt. Liszt is the best known Hungarian composer. Erkel composed the Hungarian national anthem, and was the first music director of the Opera House; he was also founder of the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra.

Hungarian State Opera House, Budapest Courtesy Hungarian State Opera House/Photo by Attila Juhasz. Designed by famed architect Miklós Ybl, the beautiful, e Hungarian State Opera in Budapest opened in 1884 and remains virtually unchanged more than 130 years later. The modernist Metropolitan Opera House in New York City, part of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts complex, was designed by American architect Wallace Harrison – the same man behind other famous Manhattan structures including the Time-Life Building – and opened in 1966.
In short, the Hungarian Opera House, is a magical place that provides millions of tiny impressions that take us back hundreds of year's in time. But one of Ybl Miklós’ most famous contributions might just be the Hungarian Opera House. Podmaniczky Frigyes (himself eternalized through what some call ‘Europe’s most complex statue’), called for tenders in 1873 for the building of the Opera House. This was won by one of the greatest architects of European historicism (a type of art that draws inspiration from recreating historic styles) – Ybl. The neo-renaissance building is one of the largest and most beautiful not only in Europe but also throughout the world
