Michael Gibbs/ Gary Burton Quartet - Festival 69. Updated, Thursday, 22 Nov 2018 13:51. Vibes player Gary Burton on the cover of the Belfast Festival 69 programme. Three live CDs of peerless Mike Gibbs tunes and arrangements featuring the legendary American vibes player Gary Burton (born Indiana, 1943) will be of particular interest to aficionados of British jazz. The sound reproduction leaves a little to be desired at times throughout, but the spirit of commitment in these live performances is unquestionable. There is too that sense of remarkable joie de vivre that pervades the music, from Gibb’s popular composition, Tanglewood ’63 - all of 16 minutes 15 seconds - to the blues and swing exercises.
