O clemens, o mitis, BuxWV 82. Dietrich Buxtehude. Ton Koopman, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra. 3. Gen Himmel zu dem Vater mein, BuxWV 32.

Mit/with Bettina Pahn, Dorothee Wohlgemuth, Miriam Feuersinger, Klaus Mertens, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir, Ton Koopman. Hörbeispiele/Audio excerpts: - "O clemens, o mitis" "Gen Himmel zu dem Vater mein" "Lauda anima mea Dominum" "Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied" "Meine Seele, willtu ruhn" "O Gottes Stadt, o güldnes Licht" "Wie soll ich dich empfangen" "Sicut Moses exaltavit serpentem" "Salve desiderium, salve clamor gentium".

On this last set, Ton Koopman and the great Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir showcase vocal compositions Buxtehude wrote during his time in Lübeck. Some of the works presented here are old friends, such as the bass cantata "Mein Herz Ist Bereit" (BuxWV 73) and "Singet dem Herrn" (BuxWV 98) for soprano, which have been recorded many times. Others are new acquaintances, such as two pieces based on Philip Nicolai's "Wachet auf" (BuxWV 100 and 101). Although Buxtehude expert Kerala Snyder considers the latter of doubtful authenticity, it's enjoyable listening nonetheless.
