Beethoven - The Berlin Pilharmonic Orchestra, David Oistrakh, Mstislav Rostropovich, Sviatoslav Richter, Herbert von Karajan ‎– Triple Concerto. Composed By – Ludwig van Beethoven. Conductor – Herbert von Karajan. Liner Notes – Deryck Cooke. Orchestra – The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Piano – Sviatoslav Richter. Violin – David Oistrakh.

Beethoven: Triple Concerto. Concerto for Violin, Cello & Piano in C major, Op. 56 "Triple Concerto". Ludwig van Beethoven. Herbert von Karajan, David Oistrakh, Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Sviatoslav Richter, Mstislav Rostropovich.

Beethoven's early biographer Anton Schindler claimed that the Triple Concerto was written for Beethoven's royal pupil, the Archduke Rudolf of Austria. The Archduke, who became an accomplished pianist and composer under Beethoven's tutelage, was only in his mid-teens at this time, and it seems plausible that Beethoven's strategy was to create a showy but relatively easy piano. part that would be backed up by two more mature and skilled soloists. David Oistrakh, Mstislav Rostropovich, and Sviatoslav Richter, under Herbert von Karajan, Berlin Philharmonic, 1969. Anne-Sophie Mutter, Yo-Yo Ma, and Mark Zeltser, under Herbert von Karajan, Berlin Philharmonic, 1979. Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma and Daniel Barenboim, under Daniel Barenboim, Berlin Philharmonic, 1995. Other works for piano and orchestra. Rondo for Piano and Orchestra, WoO 6.

Such was the case when violinist David Oistrakh, cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, and pianist Sviatoslav Richter performed Beethoven's Triple Concerto in 1969 with Maestro Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic. It's hard to imagine this performance of the Triple Concerto ever being topped, given of the sheer magnitude of the talent involved. What's more, it continues to be one of the best-recorded versions of the music you'll find, and this EMI disc even couples it with an excellent Brahms Double Concerto

Ludwig van Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 8 in C Minor, Op. 13 "Pathétique": III. Rondo - Allegro. London Symphony Orchestra Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125 "Choral": II. Molto vivace.
