Ex Cathedra biography This was not a progressive group, but rather a project by a group of classically-trained musicians recorded over numerous studio sessions at Cedartree Studios in Ontario, Canada between 1987 and 1994.

Ex Cathedra (/ˌɛks kəˈθeɪdrə/ EKS-kə-THAY-drə) is a leading British choir and early music ensemble based in Birmingham in the West Midlands, England. It performs choral music spanning the 15th to 21st centuries, and regularly commissions new works. Ex Cathedra was founded in Birmingham in 1969 by Jeffrey Skidmore OBE, who is its artistic director and conductor

Ex cathedra definition is - by virtue of or in the exercise of one's office or position. How to use ex cathedra in a sentence. Ex cathedra is a Latin phrase, meaning not "from the cathedral," but "from the chair. The phrase does have religious origins though: it was originally applied to decisions made by Popes from their thrones. According to Roman Catholic doctrine, a Pope speaking ex cathedra on issues of faith or morals is infallible. In general use, the phrase has come to be used with regard to statements made by people in positions of authority, and it is often used ironically to describe someone speaking with overbearing or unwarranted self-certainty.
