Brutalism is the first album by Bristol band Idles, released in March 2017. The band started recording the album in 2015. Singer Joseph Talbot's mother (who is pictured on the album cover along with a sculpture by Talbot and his father) died during the recording of the album after a long illness, and his time caring for her, and her death, had a major impact on the album, with Talbot later stating "She was that album. That's why she was on the cover.

Brutalism is the debut album from UK post-hardcore band IDLES. The album was written after the death of lead vocalist Joe Talbot’s mother, on whom Mother is based. The style is common among post-war urban English buildings, including public housing apartments

Idles - Brutalism (2017) FLAC. cue) 00:41:58 279 Mb Post-Punk, Punk Rock, Alternative Rock Label: Balley Records. If there is a manifesto to be found on the debut album from Bristolian post-punk quintet Idles, it makes itself apparent early in its first track: I’m just saying I don’t like you. No one is safe from bludgeoning savagery on the perfectly titled ‘Brutalism’, whether you’re a TV chef or a Conservative MP. These might seem like easy targets, and you’d be right.

Label: Balley Records ‎– BALLEY001. Absolutely delighted to own number 3/100, signed and in mint condition. I feel a custodian of the album and happy for any fan living or near Bristol to take a look over coffee. Reply See 3 replies Notify me 3 Helpful.

Brutalism has lost none of its bite and stands peerless as a staggering album of unmatched sincerity and self-assuredness.

This has been the year of IDLES and Brutalism - released back in March - defies all the expectations and images one might reserve for a debut album. Beneath the surface of charismatic rage and sonic gut punches there is an unparalleled level of confessional vulnerability and writerly prowess that comfortably cement it as an instant classic.
