Sorry to Bother You is the sixth studio album by American hip hop group The Coup. It was released on Anti- on October 30, 2012. In 2012, The Coup's frontman Boots Riley completed the first draft of the screenplay for the 2018 film Sorry to Bother You. While he would later direct the film from that screenplay, Riley had no way to produce the film in 2012. As such, The Coup made the album of the same name, which was inspired by the screenplay.

The Magic Clap" is just a tease of what they have in the vaults preparing to unleash on the world. I have been a serious collector of The Coup's music since "Me And Jesus The Pimp In A '79 Granada Last Night" first hit my ears. It was as if Boots had read "There Is An Urgency" and wrote a song just for me to keep me going. I am very excited to hear what the group has for us now that they have expanded from just Boots and Pam the Funkstress to a full band.
