Hole was an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1989. It was founded by singer and guitarist Courtney Love and guitarist Eric Erlandson. It had several different bassists and drummers, the most prolific being drummer Patty Schemel, and bassists Kristen Pfaff (d. 1994) and Melissa Auf der Maur.
Featuring guest-appearances from Paul Butler (The Bees), Nicole Willis, Darondo, Karime Kendra, Fanny Franklin, and Kirin Lee, the album is an homage to styles from the late 1960s to the 1980s. Soul music has always been a strong part of my musical identity.
We be a team, cause everybody plays a part in this Ain't no chuckin, we comin from the parks where the gun sparks After dark, you got your three point shooters Scrubs who quick to fire out cause your style is out We drinkin quarts on courts so how you handle it Shootin bricks or sellin bricks, we still scramblin. Bahar began DJing in the early 80s, a historically important time for music in Chicago and states he was driven by an "unquenchable desire to create one of the best collections ever". This 12 track compilation demonstrates Bahar has achieved that with aplomb, traversing through a colourful range of funk, soul, disco and boogie, with Frederic Mercier's "Spirit" a real gem.
