Complete your The Natacha Atlas & Marc Eagleton Project collection. a trip through stripped down Middle Eastern tones and flavors, minimalist drones and colors, Natacha Atlas at the forefront, guiding us through passages unknown. It is both comforting and haunting, an unexpected excursion for the more typically upbeat Atlas, more ambient than ethnic and more thoughtful than deliberate. We have the treat of hearing Atlas in spoken word in some tracks, a rarity her previous albums did not afford us. Highly recommended, for fans of both Atlas and ambient music in general.

Despite the liner notes claims of "computer malarkey" being employed, the overall sound is acoustic, a stark contrast to her previous work. It is Natacha's best album next to Something Dangerous, and is VERY relaxing. It is done w/ Marc Eagleton, although it is like he's never there. Natacha is THE best world artist of our time.

This album is thus a musical essay of sorts, on spiritual wisdom teachings translated into soundscapes whose processed vistas we've seen before from slightly different vantage points, by DJ mixers/sound engineers like Mercan Dede, Hector Zazou and Cheb i Sabbah. Some numbers omit the vocals altogether. Foretold is a fine excuse to enjoy Natacha's stunning voice without the relentless shaabi and predictable club trappings that usually surround it.
