In Absentia by Porcupine Tree (CD, Sep-2002, Atlantic (Label)). Now this album is a real stonker. I have loved PORCUPINE TREE for a long long time now and have pretty well everything they have released but I must keep saying that these guys get better album by album. In Absentia" is a step on the harder side with some real "crunchy" guitar and mid section work. For those who follow PT then you will know that this album features their new drummer "Gavin Harrison" who delivers some real awesome chops throughout.

Bonus CD tracks "Drown With Me" and "Chloroform" recorded during the In Absentia sessions. Video on CD1 is not listed in the tracklisting on the sleeve. Engineered at Avatar Studio, New York, NY, March-April 2002. Mixed at Larrabee North, N. Hollywood, CA, May 2002. Mastered at Masterdisk, New York, NY, June 2002

Porcupine Tree were an English rock band formed by musician Steven Wilson in 1987. The band began essentially as a solo project for Wilson, who created all of the band's music. By late 1993, however, he wanted to work in a band environment, bringing on frequent collaborators Richard Barbieri as keyboardist, Colin Edwin as bassist, and Chris Maitland as drummer to form the first permanent lineup.

Listen free to Porcupine Tree – In Absentia (Blackest Eyes, Trains and more). In Absentia is the seventh studio album by British progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, first released on September 24, 2002. It was their first release on a major record label, Lava Records. Though never announced as such by the members of the band, many consider In Absentia to be a concept album.

Rolling electronic percussion blends with simple and solid live drumming to provide an understated backbeat as perennial Tree leader Steven Wilson pastes his complicated pop over the proceedings

In Absentia features many of Porcupine Tree's most loved songs including "Trains", "The Sound of Muzak" and "Blackest Eyes". While not a formal concept album, many of the songs have common themes related to serial killers, youthful innocence gone wrong, and observations of the modern world, setting a template for many of Wilson's future songs.

In Absentia is the definitive Porcupine Tree album.

What makes this variant special is the extra track, Chloroform.

It doesn't look to have Chloroform on it, though. Oh well.
