In 1986, The Dazz Band recorded Wild & Free (1986) which featured Jerry Bell as lead vocalist. The Dazz Band signed with RCA records in 1988 and released the album Rock the Room which charted with the single Anticipation featuring vocals from Juan Lively (vocalist). From 1994-2001 Terry Stanton (vocalist) contributed on the following albums including: Funkology (1994), and Under the Streetlights (1995) Lucky Records
The Dazz Band grew out of Cleveland, Ohio, in 1976 stemming from the jazz fusion band Bell Telefunk. Founded by Bobby Harris, The Dazz Band has performed since 1976 and continues to perform in 2015. Original Kinsman Dazz/ Dazz Band members included Bobby Harris, (saxophonist, vocalist) Kenny Pettus, (lead vocalist, percussions) Isaac "Ike" Wiley, J. (drums) his brother Michael Wiley (bassist), and Michael Calhoun (guitarist) The Dazz Band's first album for Motown was Invitation to Love(1980). The bands title track began a string of hits starting in March, 1981. The group's next album, Let The Music Play (1981), featured the hit single "Knock! Knock!", reaching the Top 50.
Dazz Band’s debut record for Motown was the 1980 album Invitation to Love which resulted in a string of hit singles, most notably Invitation to Love. The full-length Let The Music Play arrived in 1981 led by the Top 50 single Knock Knock, followed by the group’s breakthrough hit single Let It Whip taken from the 1982 album Keep It Live. Produced by Reggie Andrews the single catapulted Dazz Band to notoriety, topped the Billboard R&B charts, and won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. The studio album Rock the Room rounded off the group’s ’80's releases, following which the group released Funkology in 1994, Under the Streetlights in 1995, Double Exposure in 1997, Here We Go Again in 1998, and Time Traveler in 2001.

The Dazz Band signed with 20th Century Records and after expanding its lineup moved to Los Angeles to prepare for a debut album. The Dazz Band’s debut, the single I Might as Well Forget About Loving You, arrived in 1978, and ultimately caught the attention of Motown Records. After switching labels, the group released the debut, Invitation to Love, in 1980. The album spawned the singles Shake It Up and Invitation to Love, and paved the way for the group’s big breakthrough with the album Keep It Live in 1982.
UK band THE ROOM was formed by former GLD members Martin Wilson and Steve Anderson in 2010 and finalized with the addition of Andy Rowe, Steve Checkley and Andrew Rae to their line-up in 2011.
