Vytear's latest release, Breaks, is in a few words, a love affair with the drum break. It is frantic and fast-paced, yet refined and classic at the same time. Vytear wants his listeners to hear every sonic variation while feeling like they are on an ambulance ride to a local hospital after suffering a stroke. His first album, The Great Rubber Audio, featured rubbery and complex rhythms and melodic elements that would be familiar to any µ-Ziq or Squarepusher listener of the last 10 years. On Breaks he continues his homage to mid-‘90s beat manipulation, but these days the breakcore camp has grown to the extent that there’s a huge scene doing this stuff.
