Hard Rock Stoner Blues. If Jack White and Zeppelin had a beautiful little newborn, Critter Carnival would represent the afterbirth. Sleazy seventies hard rock drenched in blues, jazz, funk, metal and stoner. Matthew Johnston on vocals and rhythm guitar, Lars Salien on lead guitar, Jan Van der Heyden on bass and Charlie Engels behind the drums.
Carnival of Light is the third studio album by British rock band Ride, released in June 1994 via Creation Records. The album showcased the band's shift from shoegazing to a more traditional, psychedelic rock sound. It was not well received by critics, and by the end of 1994 even the band members had become disillusioned, referring to it amongst themselves as "Carnival of Shite". All tracks written by Andy Bell except where noted. Laurence Colbert – drums, percussion.
While the 13 tracks that make up Nightingale may feel elusive on first listen, further spins, especially of the Nuggets-esque So Tired in the Morning, the twinkly I Wish, I Wish, and the epic and serpentine Trees They Do Grow High, reveal an explosive amount of ideas, almost all of which take root in the listeners brain long after the last few.
