Harmonic Disassembly, Skyline' was originally released in 1997 on the cult Evolution label and made a lot of noise with the brilliant futuristic B-boy video for 'Harmonic. getting regular airings on MTV's Chillout Zone among others. Both tracks are sleek, cutting edge examples of electronic music that is as much inspired by Joe Zawinul, Herbie Hancock and Steve Reich as it is Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream and Jonzun Crew

Carl Cox played 'Skyline' on the radio 1 Essential Selection in 1997 when he sat in for Pete Tong and presented the show. This track stood out amongst the rest of the show as it oozes class from the driving bassline and lush warm chords that drape themselves over it. Buy on site!

On some level every disc/jock is searching for the definitive record. Sometimes we may feel that we've found it, but then the search seems to continue for one that's even better than best - There is no perfect tune, of course. However, for me this 12" single is perhaps the very Zenith of what was then still a bourgeoning underground electro scene (circa 2000). It easily goes the extra mile in terms of intricacy and intelligence. Rarely (never) was an entire counter-culture so well-defined by a singular track as clearly and profoundly as it was in this hugely underated piece of vinyl. I can remember the precise moment that a test pressing of this was mixed by Doug Cooper out of some other tune or another (it was brought by Carl Grant to one of the second generation of Heart and Soul parties at Woolwich Ferry - north side). And I can still recall how the rolling layers of 'lectronic beats went a-clicking and surging in multi-layers of technoid phunk over 'that bass tone'. Warm pads slide in a projected trajectory, whilst lowdown-robo' vocal samples nag at the senses with an itchy delight. Oh, this is just the most wonderous example of mainroom shenanigans. It oozees class, phunk, sophistication, CMI electronics and a sheer panache and style that epitomises the scene it may have been designed to infiltrate. If you know and adore Agraphobia by LA Synthesis then this tune will make you weep - It is quite a perfect record (it's even on Universal Language). Be warned though - if your needles are getting old then the bass-line here alone will chuck your tone-arm straight out the other side to the run out groove. Dang Tasty Baby!
