Title: It's Not Fun. Don't Do It!: Tegan and Sara on Tour (Video 2006). Did You Know? Trivia.
But even though it’s EDM, it’s truly a Tegan and Sara song. Our first four of five albums were really hard for me because I found it really difficult to be given feedback. I took any change as a criticism of the music I was making, so I found collaboration incredibly difficult, especially with Sara. And it was all Sara who got the song recorded and got it to open the album. Tegan’s advice for songwriters: Be patient. Sometimes it takes time to hear the song for what it is. I’m also realizing how important it is as a songwriter to relinquish some control over your songs. I always thought, This is my baby, this is what came out of me, I don’t want to change it. But I’ve learned it’s good to be open to feedback. I will say, I don’t think it’s easy to write a simple song; sometimes songs that seem simple are actually deceptively hard.
TEGAN: It's funny cause it’s going to be another one of those songs that people are like, I got married to ‘U-Turn’ cause it's all about writing a love song! And I'm like, That is one of the most dick-y songs I've ever written. I'm making fun of love. But when we are playing instruments, we realize how fun it is, and how interesting it is. I don't know what the future in terms of music will hold for Tegan and Sara, like I don't know what kind of record we will put out next, but I think that it feels really exciting to imagine, at this point, that there could be another shift coming.
It’s practically an a capella song, underpinned only by a small piano motif that turns with clockwork’s ornate simplicity. Sara sounds awed by the sense of ceremony, but equally defiant about her right to it, her voice catching on its distinctive sour, saturated edges. They seem so very scared of us, she sings. I look into the mirror/For evil that just does not exist/I don’t see what they see/Tell them that, tell them that
Sometimes it feels like the side that I'm on Plays the toughest hand, holds the longest stand Sometimes it feels like I'm all that they've got It's so hard to know I'm not what they want. I'm not their hero But that doesn't mean that I wasn't brave I never walked the party line Doesn't mean that I was never afraid I'm not your hero But that doesn't mean we're not one and the same I do my best to walk the finest line Till I've had all that I can. take. It is not just the music that makes the show, it is the interaction, the banter, the teasing and the familiarity. They both wear their heart on their sleeve and I believe that is one of the many reasons that they connect to their fans so well. The entire show will leave you breathless and pumped. The show was really fun. Tegan and Sara had quite a bot of witty banter on stage which made for a fun break from the songs. They also did two acoustic songs which was nice. Over all they brought a lot of energy to their show that just listening to their music doesn't convey.
