Talking Book is the fifteenth studio album by Stevie Wonder, released on October 28, 1972. He is said to have "hit his stride" in this signal recording of his "classic period". The album's first track, "You Are the Sunshine of My Life", hit on Billboard's Hot 100 and Easy Listening charts, then earned Wonder his first Grammy Award, for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. The album's first single, "Superstition", also hit on Billboard's Hot 100 and Hot Soul Singles charts.

Talking Book ‎(LP, Album, Hol). Without a shadow of a doubt this is Stevie Wonders most beautiful piece of work. it belongs to the Top 10 records of all times. Maybe mostly remembered for those two giant lovers tunes. You Are The Sunshine Of my Life' - Song A1 tand "I Believe When I Fall In Love', it will be with you" as the closing.

After releasing two "head" records during 1970-71, Stevie Wonder expanded his compositional palette with 1972's Talking Book to include societal ills as well as tender love songs, and so recorded the first smash album of his career. What had been hinted at on the intriguing project Music of My Mind was here focused into a laser beam of tight songwriting, warm electronic arrangements, and ebullient performances - altogether the most realistic vision of musical personality ever put to wax, beginning with a disarmingly simple love song, "You Are the Sunshine of My Life".

Talking Book is the fifteenth album by Stevie Wonder. You Are the Sunshine of My Life', hit on Billboard's Hot 100 and earned Stevie his first Grammy Award. The album's first single, 'Superstition', also hit on Billboard's Hot 100 and Hot Soul Singles charts. Talking Book" established Stevie Wonder's albums during this period not as mere vehicles for new hit songs but as whole works of art that required the music loving public to pay attention. Superstition" and "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life" are the big hits from "Talking Book. But they aren't the only songs of note on the album. The funky "Maybe Your Baby" sets an unexpected tone for the album that Stevie doesn't pick up again until "Superstition" when he makes a definitive statement of what funk can be.

Album · 1972 · 10 Songs. From the first, gliding notes of You Are the Sunshine of My Life, Talking Book pulls us into its current of creative momentum. Whether in the breezy rhythms of Lookin’ for Another Pure Love or the dirty, sticky stomp of Superstition, Stevie Wonder fully inhabits and magnifies every mood. Armed with an arsenal of newfangled keyboard tones, he duels Ray Parker, Jr. on Maybe Your Baby, a sublime fusion of hard rock and roiling funk. Wonder’s exuberant hunger to savor all styles only makes the plaintive tenderness of You and I more arresting. Talking Book Stevie Wonder.

Stevie Wonder: Album Guide. Ranking the pop-soul genius’ albums – from Motown pop to visionary funk and beyond. Must-Haves: ‘Talking Book’ (1972). This watershed is Wonder’s Revolver, where he transcends his hit-machine youth and moves to higher ground-creatively, politically and spiritually. You Are the Sunshine of My Life is the user-friendly opener, Superstition the next-level funk anthem.
