Karen O and Danger Mouse have concocted a lush, vivid world on their dreamy and poignant collaboration. On their new record Lux Prima, they appear to revel in the possibility of a blank slate. O said of making Lux Prima that when you create from a blurry place you can go places further than you’ve ever been, while Danger Mouse talked of looking for a place rather than a sound. Listening to the results, I imagine that place to be Paris 1969, Detroit 1964 or Bristol 1995, a blend of Serge Gainsbourg’s orchestral grace, Motown pop hustle, and the packed and dusty sound of ‘90s trip hop. At times, the results are sublime.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O and producer Danger Mouse have detailed their new collaborative album. Lux Prima arrives March 15 via BMG, and is led by the new single Woman. I like to write songs that anyone can relate to but this one felt especially for the inner child in me that needed the bullies out there to know you don’t fuck with me, Karen O said in a statement. I’m a woman now and I’ll protect that inner girl in me from hell and high water. The title track of the new album, the duo’s first joint single, was released back in November. Karen O’s most recent album.

Photo: Eliot Lee Hazel. Of the constellation of artists that rose from the mire of early aughts New York City - the Strokes, TV on the Radio, Interpol, LCD Soundsystem - Karen Orzolek, . Karen O, is having the strangest and possibly the most edifying career. Her band, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, is known for reckless punk-rock abandon but also for a pop ballad and an EDM banger. Her solo career added new textures: 2014’s Crush Songs traded children’s choirs and big bands for drum machines and tape hiss, revealing the beating heart behind the music by stripping away production values

Karen O and Danger Mouse are both serial collaborators, so when this joint album was announced we weren't all that surprised. Even so, we never thought the resultant set would be quite as good as this. Atmospheric, rich and full of songs that variously touch on sweeping cinematic soundtracks, driving Motown soul, fuzzy funk-rock, vintage trip-hop and hazy electronica, "Lux Prima" manages to showcase the best of both artists' talents while refusing to settle on one neatly defined sound. The set's dizzying highs - particularly the near 10-minute title track - are almost.

The nine-song LP is a lush journey down the milky way of their rock ’n’ roll sensibilities, meaning a bit of the signature es heaviness in Karen O’s voice converging with Danger Mouse’s star-gazing, atmospheric production.

Lux Prima is the first collaborative studio album by singer-songwriter Karen O and record producer-composer Danger Mouse. It was released in March 2019 under BMG Records. According to a NY Times article, it’s an album of sprawling, soulful, cinematic psych rock filled with astral bass lines, gauzy strings.

Both Karen O and Danger Mouse have accomplished many of the things that artists might set out to accomplish, and both have reached an age when many musicians grow complacent. How wonderful it is then to report that Lux Prima sounds vibrant and fresh. Lux Prima is Latin for First light. The album delivers on its title, radiating some of the warmth and mystery of a sunrise. When the moment calls for it, Danger Mouse can evoke the garage rock atmospherics on which Karen O built her career

Excellent album and sounds great although my vinyl copy has several incidents on non-fill noise on the track Drown, does anyone else have this issue?
I do not have that issue, although I did clean it prior to playing because I noticed a few paper flakes from the sleeve it comes with (which is common with new LPs).
I know it's of limited help to you but my orange vinyl copy doesn't have that issue.
