Chick Corea is accompanied by Steve Swallow (on acoustic bass rather than the electric bass he switched to a short time later) and Joe Chambers. The pianist's "Tones for Joan's Bones" is swinging, but not nearly as driving as his works in the decades to follow, while his reworking of the show tune "This Is New" features Joe Farrell and Woody Shaw; both tracks also show the influence of Bill Evans

The Keith Jarrett and Chick Corea offerings are from their own 1966 sessions as leaders. Jarrett contributes two original compositions and is joined by drummer Paul Motian and bassist Charlie Haden in pleasurable but somewhat conservative outings

In September 1968 Corea replaced Herbie Hancock in Davis's band and appeared on Filles de Kilimanjaro, In a Silent Way, and Bitches Brew. In concert, Davis's rhythm section of Corea, Dave Holland, and Jack DeJohnette combined elements of free jazz improvisation and rock music. Corea experimented with using electric instruments, mainly the Fender Rhodes electric piano, in the Davis band. In 2008 Corea collaborated with Japanese pianist Hiromi Uehara on the live album Duet (Chick Corea and Hiromi). The duo played a concert at Tokyo's Budokan arena on April 3. .Chick Corea/Herbie Hancock/Keith Jarret/McCoy Tyner (1976). Chick Corea Compact Jazz (1987, Polydor). Album · 1976 · 8 Songs. 2. Love No. 1. Keith Jarrett. 3. 4. Chick Corea. 6. McCoy Tyner.

I love McCoy Tyner's rendition of Autumn leaves and Keith Jarrett's playing acoustic on many of his solo's. Herbie's rendition of Maiden Voyage still sends us out on a cruise in the 70's and the group Return To Forever when fusion stepped on the scene with Chic Corea and Stanley Clark, but all four improvisationist on one album wow! Eduardo Farias. McCoy Tyner Trio (with Steve Davis and Elvin Jones) - Lazy Bird 23:46, Sweet Way -27:17.
