American Dream (stylized in all-lowercase on digital releases) is the fourth studio album by American rock band LCD Soundsystem, released on September 1, 2017, by DFA and Columbia. It was announced on January 5, 2016, the day after it was revealed that the band was reuniting after a disbandment lasting nearly five years. It is the band's first album in seven years, following This Is Happening (2010).

The rebirth of LCD Soundsystem is marked by an extraordinary album obsessed with endings: of friendships, of love, of heroes, of a certain type of geeky fandom, and of the American dream itself. The rebirth of LCD Soundsystem is marked by an extraordinary album obsessed with endings: of friendships, of love, of heroes, of a certain type of geeky fandom, and of the American dream itself. Of course James Murphy fell for his own rock’n’roll myth. This is the guy who entered the realm of semi-stardom 15 years ago with Losing My Edge, a song that both poked fun at and paid tribute to music snobbery, that imagined a miracle man who witnessed every seminal underground event up-close, that used a list of cooler-than-thou names as an impenetrable shield.

american dream is the first proper LCD Soundsystem album in 7 years, and the first one since their break-up, hiatus. american dream Q&A. Producers James Murphy. Writers Al Doyle, James Murphy & Tyler Pope. Assistant Engineer Al Doyle, David Jones & Matt Shaw. Background Vocals Al Doyle & Korey Richey.

LCD Soundsystem is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002 by musician James Murphy, co-founder of DFA Records.

AMERICAN DREAM is the long awaited fourth album from LCD Soundsystem.

The quality of these records is unreal! The packaging is basic (plain paper inners, no gatefold), but OK. But the sound... good lord, the sound. Dead quiet vinyl, super warm SQ. If you've only heard this album as compressed mpegs, you're missing out on 80% of the music's value, seriously. James Murphy wants you to hear this in analog!
Did anyone else preorder the autographed postcard version and never receive it? I emailed DFA repeatedly and no one ever responded. Never buying any DFA/LCD stuff again.
DFA's customer support has been complete garbage recently. I only recieved my package with postcards and stuff when I finally ended up tweeting @dfarecords and aldoyle or whatever their twitter handles are. Got a personal email address for someone at DFA, got my stuff 2 days later. Would've been super satisfied if not for the fact that the Sound of Silver album I bought from them at the time came with a crack :/So yeah, don't order from DFA.
Doesn't the stamp (P USA) on this indicate it was pressed at Pallas? Were some runs pressed at QRP and others at Pallas? I recall an early press release for the vinyl mentioning being pressed at Pallas as well.
Great music. Good mastering. Crappy pressing. Crackle throughout the entire first side. Both LPs warped. I'm getting *so* tired of pressing quality these days.
That is really surprising, because this is pressed at one of the the only good US pressing plants (aside from RTI). The fact it was warped too, I would definitely get a replacement, sounds like a fluke.
Almost done listening to this , i had to comment right away, i'm in freaking heaven, what a rebirth, thank god they are back,...As for the pressing itself, maybe i was lucky but my copy is flawless, no warping, the sound is amazing, noise free....Crank this up, this is one hell of a trip.
Fast Lovebird
Bought the US pressing-- done at QRP-- which is normally a very good thing. But this is a sub-par pressing. Both discs were scuffed and disc two, as others have reported, was severely warped. It's going back for a replacement. A solid album but disappointing vinyl quality.UPDATE 10/3/2017: Purchased another copy and disc 2 was not warped. It was scuffed and they have the vinyl in cheap paper sleeves so this may happen as they're being assembled. Playback is pretty decent, minor surface noise, still, it does sound excellent.
If it was truly pressed at QRP they wouldn't be in paper sleeves. All QRP pressings come in their branded poly sleeves.
Gold Crown
Yeah, I have the same issue. My Side D has tons of noise, especially during the last few minutes of "Black Screen". Probably going to order a new copy and send back the damaged one. Disappointing because it's an excellent record that otherwise sounds fantastic.
My copy of sides 3 and 4 are badly warped. Emailed DFA several days ago with no response so far.
Pretty excellent sounding record as said before. There's music in the runout groove on side A with a locked groove continuously playing the tail end of A3. The first time I heard it I didn't even notice, it sounded so seamless. Also, my local record store was handing out a bag of LCD Soundsystem American Dream themed buttons (badges) with the LP. Did any other stores do this?
Locked groove on all four sides, not just A :)
I think so. Twist & Shout in Denver was supposed to hand them out with each purchase, but I bought the record there before I saw that they were even supposed to be handing them out. I think the guy at the register forgot and I never even asked ha! Oh well!
I think it sounds great! My pressing is flat, clean and almost completely noise free so far. Just listened the first record and are there locked grooves at the end of each side? Or is that completely in my head?
Exceptionally clean and quiet pressing. Really great sound as well!
Pressed at quality record pressings... Without listening, I'm sure the North American release sounds fantastic.
